Cancer Survivors and Healthcare Providers Have Different Views on Medical Cannabis

A new study reveals significant differences between cancer survivors and their healthcare providers regarding medical cannabis use and comfort discussing it. Many cancer survivors are using cannabis to manage symptoms like pain, nausea, and anxiety, with medical cannabis now legal in 47 states, Washington D.C., and three U.S. territories. Despite growing use among cancer patients, there is limited research on how survivors and providers view medical cannabis or their willingness to have conversations about it. This gap in perspective highlights the need for better communication and education between patients and healthcare teams about cannabis as a symptom management option.
