Cannabis Extract Shows Promise for Treating Tick Bite Wounds and Inflammation

A new study published in the Brazilian Journal of Biology evaluates cannabis extract derived from hemp inflorescences for its capacity to repair skin damage and reduce inflammatory responses caused by tick bites. The research addresses the growing problem of tick-borne infections and mechanical skin injuries from species like Rhipicephalus linnaei (brown dog tick), particularly as conventional antiparasitic treatments become less effective. Scientists used experimental models to measure the extract's soothing and healing properties against tick-induced cutaneous lesions, representing a sustainable botanical alternative to traditional treatments. These findings could offer relief for both pets and humans affected by tick bites and related complications.
