Chilean Foundation Preserves Archive of Pioneering Ethnobotanist Jonathan Ott

The Lobeliana Foundation is working to preserve and import the personal library and correspondence of Jonathan Ott, a renowned ethnobotanist and writer who passed away in 2025. The collection, comprising approximately 2,500 books and extensive archival materials, is being transferred from Xalapa, Mexico to the Araucanía region of Chile. Ott was a seminal figure in ethnobotanical research and the study of entheogenic plants, substances that have garnered increasing scientific interest for their potential therapeutic applications in mental health and consciousness research. This preservation effort ensures that a crucial historical archive documenting the contemporary study of plant medicine and ethnobotany remains intact for future researchers and scholars.
