Dominican Oncologists Call for Strengthened Access to Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment

Despite progress in cancer diagnosis and treatment capabilities, the Dominican Republic continues to face significant access barriers that delay patients from receiving timely therapeutic interventions, according to Dr. Miguel Monanci, president of the Dominican Society of Medical Oncology. The internal medicine and clinical oncology specialist highlighted that systemic obstacles remain a critical challenge in oncological care delivery. Strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving patient access to cancer treatments is essential to reduce mortality rates and improve survival outcomes. These findings underscore the need for comprehensive healthcare reforms to ensure equitable cancer care across the nation.
