Dominican Republic Joins PAHO Initiative to Reduce Teen Pregnancy and Maternal Deaths

The Dominican Republic will participate in a two-year initiative led by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and MSD for Mothers aimed at reducing preventable maternal deaths and unplanned teen pregnancies. The program focuses on strengthening maternal health services and expanding access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare for adolescents. This initiative addresses critical public health gaps by improving healthcare infrastructure and education in underserved communities. For patients, particularly teenage girls and pregnant women, this means better access to prenatal care, family planning services, and emergency obstetric care to prevent complications.
