Dominican Republic Recognizes Mental Disorders and Cancers in Workers' Compensation for First Time

The Dominican Republic's Superintendent of Health and Occupational Risks (SISALRIL) has introduced an updated Professional Diseases Chart that significantly expands occupational illness coverage under workers' compensation insurance. For the first time, the new framework—established through Resolution 00270-26—includes mental health conditions and cancers linked to psychosocial workplace factors. This landmark policy change broadens protections for workers exposed to occupational stressors and carcinogens, ensuring better access to medical care and disability benefits for affected employees.
