International Trial Supports New Strategy Against Metastatic Prostate Cancer

A phase III international clinical trial published in The Lancet demonstrates that adding Lutetium-177 PSMA (Lu-PSMA), a targeted radioligand therapy, to standard hormone treatment reduces the risk of disease progression or death by 28% in patients with metastatic prostate cancer. The PSMAddition study provides significant evidence for this combined therapeutic approach in treating advanced prostate cancer. This breakthrough offers new hope for patients with metastatic disease, potentially extending survival and improving treatment outcomes. The findings may change clinical practice guidelines and expand treatment options for Puerto Rican men battling this aggressive form of cancer.
