New PET Imaging Detects Nearly All Lesions in Common Kidney Cancer

Researchers have developed a new PET imaging approach that detected 97.9% of lesions in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the most common type of kidney cancer. This breakthrough was presented at the 39th Annual Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM'26). The advanced imaging technique provides clinicians with a more comprehensive picture of disease location and extent, potentially improving treatment planning and patient outcomes. Early and accurate detection of all cancerous lesions is critical for determining the best therapeutic strategy for kidney cancer patients.
