Study: Hemp Hurd Can Be Used to Strengthen Biodegradable Plastic

Researchers from South Korea's Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology have developed an innovative method to strengthen biodegradable plastics using hemp hurd, an agricultural byproduct from industrial hemp stalks. By extracting cellulose from discarded hemp plant material traditionally used in textile production, scientists applied a specialized drying process that preserves the microfibrillar structure of the fibers.
