Triple Therapy Shows Remarkable Effectiveness for Cystic Fibrosis in Young Children

Researchers at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin have found that triple therapy, approved since 2020 to treat the underlying cause of cystic fibrosis, is particularly effective when administered in early childhood. The therapy restored molecular channel function in mucous membranes to near-normal levels in children ages 2 to 11, offering new hope for managing this previously incurable genetic disorder. This breakthrough suggests that early intervention during critical developmental years may significantly improve long-term outcomes and quality of life for patients with cystic fibrosis, potentially reducing respiratory complications and other disease manifestations.
