Colorado Implements Stricter Testing Standards for Cannabis Concentrates

Starting September 28, Colorado will require cannabis testing laboratories to screen for 17 additional residual solvents in chemically-extracted cannabis concentrates. This regulatory enhancement aims to ensure consumer safety by detecting harmful chemical residues that may remain from extraction processes using solvents like butane, propane, or ethanol. The new testing requirements also apply to certain hemp-derived products entering the regulated market.
