Higher Physical Activity May Prevent More Type 2 Diabetes Cases Among Older Adults

New research presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting reveals that higher levels of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) are significantly associated with a substantially lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes, particularly among younger older adults. The findings underscore the critical role that regular exercise plays in diabetes prevention strategies. This research provides compelling evidence that increasing physical activity can be an effective intervention to reduce diabetes incidence in aging populations. For patients and healthcare providers, these results reinforce the importance of maintaining consistent exercise habits as a primary preventive measure against type 2 diabetes development.
